Fed: Federal private school funding exceeds public unis

SYDNEY, Jan 2 AAP - Private schools will receive more federal funding in 2004 than
publicly funded universities, it was reported today.

The Australian newspaper said the historic shift would be the first time the record
$4.7 billion Commonwealth expenditure on independent and Catholic schools had exceeded
spending on universities.
