NSW: Poll hand count after computer glitch
SYDNEY, April 14 AAP - A computer glitch has prevented the State Electoral Office (SEO)from declaring the winner of the last seat in the NSW upper house for up to nine days.
The SEO has had computer problems while attempting to distribute preferences from morethan four million ballot papers.
It's hoped the problems will be resolved and the results will be known as early as Wednesday.
Failing this, a result may not be known until the following Wednesday.
The final seat is a battle between One Nation founder Pauline Hanson and the ShootersParty candidate John Tingle.
NSW Electoral Commissioner John Wasson told ABC radio the office would begin manuallycounting the papers, as he could not delay the count any longer.
"Those people who were lucky enough to be involved can forget all about Easter," Mr Wasson said.
"They'll probably be working two shifts per day non-stop until we get the result."
