WA: SAS to have private, beachside Anzac commemoration

As Perth's Anzac marchers prepare to wind through the city today -- crack soldiersof the Perth-based SAS will gather for a private commemoration on the beach at their homebarracks.

The elite troops -- some just back from Afghanistan -- cannot join the Anzac marchbecause they cannot be identified.

The soldiers gathering at Swanbourne beach will remember not only the fallen of pastwars but their colleagues still on active duty -- and especially 33-year-old SergeantANDREW RUSSELL, killed in Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, Army nurses will be recognised when they head the Perth Anzac march.

And the RSPCA says the horses, donkeys and dogs who served alongside ANZAC troops inGallipoli should not be forgotten.
