TURIN, Italy - Kathleen Kauth was one of the last players cut when the Team USA women's hockey squad was selected before the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. She watched those Games helplessly as the Americans settled for the silver medal against heated rival Canada.
That memory more than anything helped Kauth appreciate the bittersweet bronze medals she and her teammates claimed Monday afternoon with a 4-0 victory over Finland at Palasport Olimpico.
